There was once a giant, furry rabbit who loved to do good. He loved to see others happy and loved it when others succeeded. The rabbit did not care if they were brown rabbits, black rabbits, white rabbits or spotted rabbits, he did not even care if they were rabbits at all.

Once when hoping along and carrying a carrot, he came across some coyote pups. The pups were playing. When they saw the rabbit, they stopped to investigate. "Where is your mom?" The rabbit asked.

"She is hunting. We’re going to hunt you."

"No, no," said the rabbit while dropping the carrot. "Here, take this carrot and eat it. It is wonderful"

The pups gnawed at the carrot. "It is good," one pup acknowledge.

The rabbit chuckled and hoped away happy that the pups were enjoying his carrot.

Later after finding another carrot, the rabbit was hopping along when he came to stream. As he prepared to hop across it, he saw a small scorpion trying to cross. "What is wrong? You seem to be having trouble."

"I need to cross this water because my nest and babies are on the other side, but the water has risen and there is no way across."

"I will help you, crawl up my back and I will hop across then let you off."

"Thank you, and I will give you a great reward." The scorpion crawled up the rabbit’s fur, and when the rabbit had hopped over, crawled back down. "Thank you much, as a reward I will not sting you."

The rabbit chuckled, "That is good, but I don't think you could have hurt me because I have thick fur. Although I'm sure your sting is quite awful."

The rabbit continued its trip and came across a black tarantula with bright, beautiful red stripes. The tarantula, surprised by the rabbit, scurried to turn to look at him. "Thank you," the tarantula said.

"For what, I only stopped to say hello."

"You did not see him but there was a big snake eyeing me for dinner. You scared him away. I could not have jumped fast enough to escaped."

"Aw, that would have been bad. I'm glad you are safe. Please, be careful."

The rabbit hopped onward, and came across the snake. "Hello."

The snake hissed at the rabbit and stared.

"You must be the snake the tarantula told me about."

"Yes." The snake slithered closer to the much bigger rabbit. "I lost my meal because of you."

"Sorry about that, take this carrot. It is delicious." The rabbit dropped the carrot for the snake to eat.

The snake sniffed the carrot with its tongue, but was unimpressed. "This is not food. This is just wood."

"You are wrong, this carrot is the best food there is, except for lattice. Please try it."

"I would rather eat you."

The rabbit chuckled, "I'm too big for you to eat. Besides my fur is thick, you could never bite through it."

Quickly, faster than the rabbit could jump, the snake struck. The rabbits fur was thick, but the snake’s fangs were longer. Holding its bite, the snake pumped poison into the rabbit. The rabbit died.

The snake was delighted, happier than ever because of the large meal it now had to eat. The biggest kill he had ever made. Opening its mouth wide, the snake began to swallow the much larger rabbit. The snake mouth slid over the rabbit’s nose, then over the rabbits eyes, but as it tried to engulf the ears, it could not. The rabbit was way too big for the snake to eat, and the snake spit the rabbit out of its mouth.

Crawling around the rabbit, the snake realize the rabbit had been right. The rabbit was too big for the snake to eat. "Oh well," the snake thought as it crawled away, "I'm proud that I made such a big kill."

Later that night the coyote and her pups came along and ate most of the rabbit. Then the scorpion pulled off some of the rabbit’s fur to line its nest. And the tarantula came and ate some of the meat that clung to the rabbit’s bones.

The moral of this story is that others do not always live as we live.
